Yukon archers on target at outdoor 3D championship

A group of seven archers found the target at the Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle's 3D Archery Championships Saturday.

A group of seven archers found the target at the Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle's 3D Archery Championships Saturday.

With each archer competing alone in their age categories, each of them earned first-place finishes.

Rob Ingram picked up the top score on the day, picking up 226 points in the Master Barebow category.

Ensio Lera scored a 104 in Youth Compound Pre-Cub, Gordon Reed earned an 84 in Master, Julian Jules shot 112 in Traditional Pre-Cub, Levi Stoneman scored 115 in the male Traditional Cub, and Taylor Destiny picked up 114 in the female Traditional Cub division.

The event was held at the Whitehorse Archery Club, located on the Biathlon Range on Grey Mountain Road.

"Most of the kids were from Haines Junction,鈥 said organizer Rose Inglangasuk. "Other than having more people, I think it was a success. Everybody had fun.鈥

She noted YASC is currently trying to prepare archers for the North American Indigenous Games in Regina next summer.

YASC is currently seeking archers for a youth program scheduled to occur Tuesday nights from 4:30 to 5:45 at Takhini Arena. For more information, visit http://www.yasc.ca.
