Yukon Brewing won back to back games for the first time this season in a 5-3 win over Tony鈥檚 Pizza in Whitehorse Rapids Over-35 soccer action.

The Brew were cruising to an easy victory taking a 4-0 lead early in the first half, but Tony鈥檚 fought back, gaining a foothold in the game scoring two well-deserved goals to cut the lead in half.

The second half was extremely competitive, with some hard but fair challenges. Tony鈥檚 team, shorn of some of their superstars, were ably replaced by Ben Mercier, Brian Fiddler and deadly Doug Hitch who scored in his return to the league.

However, Yukon Brew had too much power and pace and closed the game out without any real scares.

Mark O鈥橞rien led the scoring with two goals assisted by Jim Brown, Rich Potter and Gord Barker, while golden boot hopeful Justin Carre got two himself for Tony鈥檚 to add to Hitch鈥檚 strike.

Pepsi鈥檚 win extends their lead

In the battle for the league title, Pepsi took a major step forward in their quest defeating Klondike Business Solutions 6-5 in a blockbuster game between the league leaders at the Canada Games Centre.

These two teams have performed to a consistently high standard throughout the season and this game was a showcase for the quality of this league.

Danny Macdonald鈥檚 KBS team were leading at half time with goals from Adil Khalik (2), David Rayo, Eric Murphy and veteran John MacPhail, but Keith Maguire鈥檚 Pepsi team are a force to be reckoned with. Their players don鈥檛 know the meaning of defeat and they rallied hard to force home a winner for a come-from-behind win with only 40 seconds remaining on the clock. Collecting the Pepsi goals were Guliano Rayo (2), swimming legend Rob Florkiewicz, Myles Dolphin, Kristian Koncze and the ever reliable Simon Pulido.

Next week鈥檚 games see Yukon Brewing trying to keep their win streak alive against KBS, and Yukon Info.com hoping to climb off the bottom of the table against Tony鈥檚 Pizza.
