Yukon skip Ray Mikkelsen emerged victorious in a battle of the territories yesterday, downing Paul Delorey's N.W.T. rink 8-6 at the 2012 Dominion Curling Club Championship.

After Delorey roared out to a 3-0 lead in the first end, Mikkelsen came right back in the second with three of his own to tie.

It was a seesaw battle the rest of the way, but a deuce in the seventh end secured the win for the Yukon. It was the territory's first win of the championship, being held this year in Scarborough, Ont.

The Yukon men's rink is now 1-2, and faces New Brunswick and B.C. today.

Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba are tied at the top of the leaderboard with records of 3-0. Nunavut and N.W.T. remain winless.

The women's territorial battle ended much differently for the Yukon yesterday.

Jody Smallwood's Yukon rink was hammered 11-0 in just five ends by Stacey Stabel of N.W.T.

They went on to drop their Draw 7 matchup this morning, 11-2 in six ends at the hands of Shannon Tatlock's New Brunswick rink.

They will face B.C. later today.

The Yukon and Nunavut are tied for last with 0-4 records. Northern Ontario is 0-3.

Ontario tops the standings with a record of 4-0, while New Brunswick is second at 3-0.
