Yukon drops to 0-2 at broomball nationals

The Yukon Coates Lead Dawgs dropped two close games to open their round robin at the Canadian Senior Broomball Championship in Calgary yesterday.

The Yukon Coates Lead Dawgs dropped two close games to open their round robin at the Canadian Senior Broomball Championship in Calgary yesterday.

The Yukon is competing in the six-team mixed division.

In game one, Manitoba edged the Lead Dawgs 2-1, with Justin Saunders netting the lone goal for the Yukon.

The territory lost their second matchup 3-1 to host Alberta, with Lawrence Ignace the only Yukoner to find the back of the net.

Sheena Laluk is between the pipes for the territory.

Today, the Lead Dawgs will face Saskatchewan and Quebec, before battling Ontario in their final round-robin game tomorrow.

The top four teams will square off in the semifinals beginning Friday afternoon, with the final set for Saturday.
