Ray Mikkelsen's curling rink finished 2-4 in round-robin play this week at the Dominion Curling Club Championship, not enough to sneak into the playoffs.

The Yukon men's rink from the Whitehorse Curling Club recorded back-to-back wins over N.W.T. and New Brunswick to even their record at 2-2, but subsequent losses to B.C. and Northern Ontario spelled the end.

On Wednesday, Mikkelsen led his team – consisting of his son, Dustin, Scott Williamson and Wade Kopan – to a 9-4 blowout over New Brunswick, who finished the tournament 0-6.

The Yukon men went on to lose 6-2 to B.C. that night, before dropping a 5-4 nailbiter to Northern Ontario in nine ends Thursday morning.

Jody Smallwood's Whitehorse-based rink finished 0-6 in round-robin play after dropping their final two games 13-5 to B.C. and 10-1 to Northern Ontario.

The women's rink of Evelyn Pasichnyk, Joan Ewing and Jari Smarch was in their first national action.

At the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Montreal, Que., the Yukon's entry skipped by Steve Fecteau finished 0-11.

After winning two pre-qualification games to make it into the main draw, the Whitehorse rink of Fecteau, Helen Strong, Wade Scoffin and Patty Wallingham, dropped 11 straight.
