The territory's top broomball players are en route to Calgary for the Canadian Senior Broomball鈥圕hampionship.

The team, Yukon Coates Lead Dawgs, will compete in the six-team mixed division.

"We've got a really good crew going down,鈥 said team captain Chris Saunders. "We have some really strong players and lots of youth and speed.

"It's a much younger team going this time around than when we went to Austria four years ago, so we'll see how that works out as compared to when we had our old age and experience with the other crew,鈥 he added.

"I have a feeling that we're going to do pretty well with the team that we're going with.鈥

The Yukon won mixed bronze at the 2010 world championships in Austria.

Players representing the Yukon at nationals include: Cody Claggett, Chad Bustin, Justin Saunders, Brittany Yuill, Matt McDonald, Scott King, Amber Saunders, Chris Saunders, Sandra Beitz, Craig Claggett, Diane Stewart, John Tom Tom, Tara Schultz, Lawrence Ignace, Terry Ross and Sheena Laluk.

Milford Allain will be behind the bench as coach.

The tournament will run April 9 to 12.
