Yukon trio shines in Vancouver Sun Run

The 30th annual race, Canada's largest 10-km event featuring nearly 40,000 participants, saw Whitehorse runner Lindsay Carson finish second among women in a cool 33:49.
Meanwhile, friends and longtime running partners Logan Roots and Logan Boehmer finished 20th and 64th respectively, with strong times of 32:09 and 34:52.
Carson, a 24-year-old engineer, finished 35 seconds behind female winner Rachel Cliff.
However, she did win her age category.
After spending the winter training in the Yukon capital, the cool, windy conditions were a breeze, Carson told the Vancouver Sun post-race.
"This isn't tough,鈥 she said. "After getting frostnip on my nose five times this winter, this is Hawaii.鈥
Carson has submitted an application to the Yukon government for support funding as an elite athlete this year.
Meanwhile, Canada Games 麻豆社区Roots ran a new personal-best time.
The 20-year-old is currently training in Victoria, but hopes to return to the territory for the Yukon River Trail Marathon and Klondike Road Relay later this summer.
"I was really happy about running a new personal-best, but I would have liked to be about nine seconds faster to make it an even 32:00,鈥 he told the Star.
"It was really nice to have a fair number of people right around me. I wasn't too alone. That was another big appeal 鈥 big crowds.鈥
